PASCO

“PASCO” is a 10-minute, human interest short-form film that explores the profound legacy of Pasco L. Schiavo, a revered attorney, educator, author, real estate investor, and philanthropist from Hazleton, Pennsylvania. Through immersive storytelling and intimate interviews, this thoughtfully crafted film brings to life the lasting impact of Schiavo’s generosity. Today, we had the privilege of visiting Catholic Social Services of The Diocese of Scranton Greater Hazleton as part of The Luzerne Foundation’s Nonprofit Accelerator site visits.Catholic Social Services serves individuals and families experiencing poverty and hardship with compassion, dignity, and hope. Through comprehensive and flexible programming, including food assistance, housing and shelter services, family support, counseling, and other essential resources, they empower individuals and families on their path toward greater stability and self-sufficiency. Thank you to Danielle Matarella and the Catholic Social Services team for sharing your mission, your work, and the impact you’re making every day throughout the Greater Hazleton community. Today, The Luzerne Foundation team had the privilege of visiting the Friedman JCC / JCA of Northeastern PA as part of our Nonprofit Accelerator site visits.Known as "The Center for Everyone," the Friedman JCC fosters the well-being of our community through educational, recreational, cultural, and charitable programs that welcome people of all backgrounds. From early childhood education and youth programming to wellness initiatives, senior services, and food assistance, the JCC creates opportunities for connection, belonging, and lifelong learning.Thank you to the Friedman JCC team for welcoming our board members, interns, and staff and for sharing your vision for the future.
